Blume

Natural skin, body, and period care from a brand that's all about smashing taboos.

About Blume

Meet Blume, a skin, body and menstrual care brand that's on a mission to help women navigate even the messiest self-care situations in comfort and with confidence. Most importantly, all of their products are all-natural and free of any toxic ingredients. By producing self-care products that are good for both the body and the environment, Blume has created a brand that will make a positive impact on the lives of women of any age, everywhere.

Why We Love Them

For too long, self-care products have been made with toxic ingredients and by corporations that don’t prioritize female empowerment or education. The taboo nature of everyday experiences like periods, acne, and puberty can have a detrimental effect on young women during a vulnerable time in their lives, which they carry into adulthood. Blume is normalizing these conversations and encouraging young women to embrace, understand, and celebrate their bodies as they grow and change.

Origin Story

Blume was founded by sisters Taran and Bunny Ghathora, who saw many problems with the period care industry that they wanted to fix. First, they found it strange that many convenient, online monthly subscriptions exist for products like razors and skincare — but not menstrual-care products. They then learned about all of the synthetic and often toxic ingredients used in common feminine hygiene products, like pads and tampons, as well as the negative effects that these disposable products have on the environment. After years of painful periods and cramps, Bunny was diagnosed with PCOS. However, even with a diagnosis, she still didn’t have a solution for the pain. The Ghathora sisters quickly realized the common thread to all of these problems was the stigma associated with periods in society. So, they started Blume, a brand that fixed these problems by first and foremost breaking down the taboo around women's health.Launching by selling tampons and pads, they quickly created other effective self-care products like their bestselling Meltdown Acne Oil to give women a solution for other common side effects of the hormonal changes that occur during menstruation and can affect self-esteem. Today, Blume is setting a new standard for education and self care by building a safe space for young women to learn, grow, and become their best naturally brave selves.

The Science & The Soul

The Science

In an industry where brands are not require to disclose ingredients, Blume is transparent with what’s in their products. All of Blume’s products are all-natural. That means there is no alcohol, SLS, silicone, parabens, sulfates, or artificial ingredients.

Blume believes that self-care products should not only be good for your body, but also good for the earth. Their tampons are biodegradable and hypoallergenic, and the tampon applicators are made of cardboard rather than single-use plastic. And since chemicals in tampons from big brands have been linked to hormonal issues for women, Blume tampons are 100% chemical free and made of 100% premium organic cotton that is not bleached or dyed. As a brand, Blume is climate neutral certified, CertClean certified, EWG verified, and Leaping Bunny certified, which means they are cruelty-free.

The Soul

Research shows that 60% of women say their self esteem plummeted during puberty. That’s why Blume’s mission is to break down the taboos in our society that are normal things like acne, sex education, and periods. From educational content for Gen Z consumers going through puberty, to their “Puberty Do-Over” campaign to help women in their 20s and 30s address the issues they still carry, Blume is looking to install acceptance and self-love in their consumers.

Blume also believes that a woman’s period should never affect her potential. They donate partial proceeds to Days for Girls, an organization that advances menstrual equity, health, and dignity for girls across the world.
