BRAND
★★★★
This brand works harder than most other lighting companies to reduce their carbon footprint and also give back philanthropically. Though they lack a bit of transparency as a company that we normally like to see.
Who is Brightech?
Brightech was founded in 2012. The goal of Brightech is to create designer lighting options that are more affordable to everyone. The founder didn’t think the current lighting market was fair to the masses, so he came up with a way to create high-quality lighting solutions at lower costs.
How this is achieved is by using the exact same suppliers as their higher-cost competitors. But, instead of using middlemen, which inflate the prices, they sell directly to the consumer. This helps reduce the cost of their lamps to the consumer by up to 3 times. Which is huge!
While creating designer lighting options at lower price points is a great business model to begin with, Brightech wanted to take things a bit further. All of their lamps are either embedded with LED lights or use LED bulbs. Plus, they use recycled packaging and paper as often as possible to further assist with reducing their carbon footprint.
Brightech also partners with Watts of Love to help bring light to the impoverished around the world. They are a corporate contributor to this 501(c)3, which is fantastic! However, they don’t really give any other information other than that. So, it’s difficult to discern whether or not a portion of each purchase goes towards this partnership or if they just donate some money whenever they feel like it. A bit more clarification would be helpful.

Brightech Floor Lamp Look & Functionality
I had heard about Brightech floor lamps before but hadn’t gotten a chance to actually try out any of their products until recently. I was surprised by how many different floor lamp options I had to choose from. The only issue I can state about their options, though, is that the majority of their offerings fall into the brass family. So, if you’re looking for more diverse color options, your choices will be a bit limited here.
For me, that color family worked fine though. After a spin around their website, I landed on the Brightech Sphere Floor Lamp. I thought it would go well in my office space and add in a bit of needed extra lighting.
When the lamp first arrived it was in an Amazon box, which was confusing. I didn’t order this lamp off of Amazon, so my only guess is that they use Amazon as a drop shipper, possibly. Other than that oddity, the package was in great shape, and unboxing it was easy.
I didn’t really need directions to assemble this lamp because all I had to do was screw the base pieces together.
After that, I screwed the 2 light bulbs in and worked on getting the globes attached properly.
Then all I had to do was figure out where I wanted to put the lamp and plug it in
The floor on/off switch was an interesting feature. While I like this option, the addition of a switch or button on the body of the lamp would be helpful also depending upon the placement of the lamp.
Functionally, this lamp was perfectly fine. It didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to really set it apart from any other floor lamp I’ve had previously though.
Is Brightech Good Quality?
Brightech floor lamps are made to last longer than a lot of the bigger box store versions. The brand states this is to help reduce the amount of waste being produced and positively impact their global footprint. Which is an admirable cause, in my opinion. However, all of their products are made at factories overseas in China. This gives me pause more often than not.
However, Brightech claims that each factory they use is ISO certified and that they’ve personally visited each factory. They don’t specify any more than that though, so it’s difficult to determine which factories they use and which ISO certifications the factories have. It would be helpful to consumers to see more transparency from this company if they really want to have some legs underneath the marketing claims.
Even without the transparency, though, their products do appear to be better made than a lot of their competitors within the same price points. Plus, they have a longer warranty than the industry standard to back up their products. So that’s a bit more reassuring.
Are Brightech Lamps Worth It?
If you’re in the market for a higher-end floor lamp, but don’t want to spend your entire paycheck, then Brightech may be a great option for you. Since their lamps tend to be more moderately priced under the $100 mark, they are more accessible to a wider audience.
The fact that they are attempting to create more sustainable products doesn’t hurt either. We were able to find a lamp almost identical to the one we tested at Target for only $5 less.
But that was without the LED bulbs. So it would have actually cost more than the Brightech lamp for us to add the bulbs to the lamp. And if we add in the fact that the lamp from Target doesn’t appear to be created as substantially, we can presume it will not last as long. So, using that math logic, by purchasing the Brightech floor lamp we already saved ourselves some money right off the bat.
Brightech Coupons & Discounts
Brightech is one of the few companies I’ve run across recently that has their own dedicated coupon page. They used to have a coupon page on their website but has since been removed. They also have an email list that is beneficial to sign up for since they send out regular deals that way too.
Frequently Asked Questions
When it comes to purchasing a new lamp, there can potentially be a plethora of questions. Therefore, here we answer some of the most common questions consumers have about Brightech lamps.
Brightech Summary
Overall, Brightech does a good job creating designer lamp options at better price points. However, their offerings are still a bit more limited than I’d like to see. And they aren’t transparent enough about their brand claims.
But, the fact that they have a good returns policy and a much longer warranty than is standard, does help their product line stand up a bit taller. So, if you’re in the market for a designer lamp but don’t want to spend designer prices, then there’s really no harm in giving Brightech a try.
