CLASSICALLY BEAUTIFUL CALPHALON TRI PLY STAINLESS STEEL COOKWARE!

Calphalon Tri Ply Stainless Steel 13 Piece Set
When I initially sat down to evaluate this Calphalon tri ply stainless steel cookware, I was immediately struck by the description of this set as 'timelessly elegant'. Really? In the culinary world, shouldn't the focus be on functionality rather than aesthetics? I would expect such a description to be reserved for a supermodel or actress, not a set of stainless steel cookware!

However, I couldn't help but be curious about all the hype surrounding this cookware set, so I decided to investigate further.

And you know what? They were absolutely right!

This Calphalon cookware set undeniably possesses a certain "wow" factor, with its classic design, polished stainless steel exterior, and satin-finished interior. Additionally, while some individuals may prefer stainless steel lids, I personally believe that the inclusion of glass domed lids adds an extra touch of sophistication to the overall appearance of this cookware set.

So, satisfied with its attractive appearance, I proceeded to examine its other features, such as:

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

The Calphalon tri ply stainless steel is a 13 piece set that includes the following:

  • 8-inch omelette pan
  • 10-inch omelette pan
  • 12-inch omelette pan
  • 1-1/2-quart covered sauce pan
  • 2-1/2-quart covered sauce pan
  • 3-quart covered saute pan
  • 3-quart covered chef’s pan
  • 6-quart covered stock pot

3 omelette pans, 2 saucepans, 1 sauté pan, 1 chef’s pan and 1 stock pot.  5 lids.  13 pieces in all.

WHAT’S WITH ALL THESE OMELETTE PANS?

Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that this Calphalon cookware set is equipped with numerous omelette pans, while lacking any skillets or fry pans. This raises the question of whether there is any discernible distinction between these terms.

After conducting some research, it appears that skillet and fry pan are often used interchangeably, whereas the omelette pan, also known as an omelet pan, falls into a distinct category. Typically characterized by its shallow design, sloping sides, and outwardly curved lip, the omelette pan facilitates the effortless removal of an omelette once it is cooked to perfection.

Personally, I find myself utilizing fry pans for a multitude of culinary tasks, including the preparation of omelettes. Therefore, in my humble opinion, an omelette pan would offer the same functionality as a conventional fry pan. Consequently, this set provides three conveniently sized pans that effectively cater to all your fry pan requirements.

WHAT IS IT MADE OF?

The Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware features a unique three-layer construction, with two layers of stainless steel encasing a thick layer of high-quality aluminum. This innovative design ensures rapid and uniform heat distribution, allowing for efficient cooking. Additionally, the aluminum layer extends up the sides of the cookware, ensuring that heat is evenly distributed to every part of the food being prepared.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE OTHER FEATURES OF THIS CALPHALON COOKWARE?

These handles are securely fastened with triple rivets, ensuring their durability and stability. Riveting, which involves bolting the handles to the pan, is considered advantageous as it reduces the risk of handles detaching compared to welded ones.

However, it is important to note that cleaning around the rivets may require a bit more effort. Additionally, the long Cool-V handles allow air to circulate, keeping them cool during cooking. The tempered glass lids effectively retain heat and moisture, while also providing the convenience of easily checking on the food with a quick glance.

HOW DO YOU CARE FOR THIS SET?

Users have reported that these pans are easily cleaned, whether it be in the sink or the dishwasher.

To clean by hand, simply allow the pans to cool after cooking and then soak them in hot soapy water. Most stuck-on food can be easily wiped away. Many users recommend using Bar Keeper's Friend to maintain the pans' polished appearance.

Here are some additional tips:

- Use medium heat instead of high heat, as these pans do not require as much heat.
- When searing meat, avoid forcing the food to flip. The meat may initially stick to the pan, but it will release when it is ready.
- Heat the pan before adding any oil, ensuring that the base is covered with a thin film of oil before adding food. This will also create a non-stick surface on the stainless steel.

CAN YOU USE THIS CALPHALON COOKWARE IN THE OVEN?

These Calphalon stainless steel cookware sets have the ability to withstand oven temperatures of up to 500F. This allows you to effortlessly transfer them from the stovetop to the broiler or oven, ensuring the perfect finishing touch for your beloved culinary creations.

IS IT DISHWASHER SAFE?

The Calphalon Stainless Steel set is indeed dishwasher safe, although the company advises that handwashing is recommended to preserve the stainless steel's shine. Fortunately, users have found it to be effortlessly cleanable by hand.

CAN IT BE USED WITH INDUCTION COOKTOPS?

Indeed, the Calphalon cookware underwent a redesign in 2010 to ensure its compatibility with induction cooktops.

DOES IT INCLUDE A WARRANTY

Calphalon provides a lifetime guarantee on their stainless steel cookware for any faulty materials or craftsmanship, as long as it is used in a regular household setting and maintained in accordance with the provided instructions.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

This is truly remarkable: The Calphalon reviews on their official website reveal that users have awarded this cookware set a perfect 5 out of 5 rating!

ARE THERE ANY COMPLAINTS?

No review can be considered comprehensive without addressing any potential drawbacks. It is worth noting that there have been very few complaints about Calphalon. Moreover, these complaints are relatively minor and do not seem to affect the overall performance of the products.

To elaborate, one common complaint is that the glass lids tend to become quite hot during cooking. However, this issue can easily be resolved by using a potholder.

Similarly, some users have mentioned that even the metal handles can become very hot during use, despite the long Cool V arms, and require the use of a potholder.

In addition, Calphalon advises against stacking these pots as it may cause scratches on the surface. Fortunately, a simple solution to this problem is to acquire felt dish separators, which are readily available at most kitchen and home stores, and use them to separate the pans.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that some users feel that this Calphalon cookware set lacks a steamer insert for the 6-quart pot.

HOW MUCH IS IT FOR?

The price of this set differs among various online retailers, but I typically find the most competitive price on Amazon.
